How often do you find yourself feeling scattered, stressed, and overwhelmed by your to-do list, leading you to work extra hours to catch up?
Throughout my coaching career, I've heard countless agents express the belief that nonstop work is the key to success. However, it's crucial to understand that being busy is not the same as being productive.
And if you keep doing the same thing, you’ll never do enough self improvement to reclaim your life.

What does it mean to reclaim your life and find yourself?
To reclaim your life and find yourself means taking control of your time, priorities, and mindset to align with your true goals and values. It’s about breaking free from distractions, limiting beliefs, and external pressures so you can focus on what truly matters. By setting clear intentions, building daily habits, and staying committed to personal growth, you create a path to fulfillment, success, and a life that feels authentically yours.
It reminds me of something that the great Earl Nightingale once spoke about – an insanely easy method for prioritizing your duties and streamlining your productivity.
If you ever find yourself overwhelmed or struggling to focus, this method can help you reclaim your life. That’s what I’m going to share with you in this short blog, and although it might seem too easy to be effective, I dare you to give it a try and see if it works in your life. It did in mine.
Let’s start with where this idea came from…
Earl Nightingale’s Theory of Productivity and Success
Earl Nightingale was an author and radio announcer in the 1950s and 60s who is today remembered as one of the greatest personal development speakers of all time. (One of my dad’s most important early career roles was working for Earl, where he was responsible for overseeing 1300 salespeople.)
Earl stressed the point that our lives can be reduced down to days. The success of your life, your year, and your month is built on a day-by-day basis. And if you continually have successful days, you’re basically guaranteed to have a successful life.
With this idea in mind, he gives us a recipe for creating a masterpiece day, every day.
The Formula for a Productive Day
The concept is simple: before bed tonight, take five minutes with a pen and paper. Write down the six most important tasks for tomorrow.
This isn’t just a to-do list filled with busywork or obligations—it’s about identifying actions that truly make an impact. By making this a habit, you take control, stay focused on what matters, and start a self-improvement journey that helps you reclaim your life, find yourself, and maximize success.
Notice I didn’t phrase this as a to-do list full of busy work. It’s not about errands or things you feel obligated to do. This is about activities that truly move the needle.
Next, prioritize each task by assigning it a number based on its importance, then reorder them accordingly. Keep your list visible and start your day by focusing on the first task until it’s done, if possible. If something urgent, like an appointment, comes up, handle it—but then immediately return to where you left off.
And if you can’t complete everything, or even a single task? Don’t stress. Stay committed to the process, and over time, you’ll take back your life from distractions and inefficiency—unlocking the path to how to find yourself in the process.
Conserve Energy for Tomorrow
Often, there’s simply too much to realistically accomplish in a day, and we have to accept that. But when you’ve honored your appointments, handled the essentials, and made progress on your six biggest tasks, you can find yourself feeling a sense of achievement. You’ve done enough for today.
Practice time management. Set a firm end time for your work—whether it’s 5:00, 6:30, or whatever works for you—and stick to it. This discipline allows you to reclaim your life and approach tomorrow with energy and focus. People often forget that one of the most important parts of today is preparing for tomorrow, and burning yourself out won’t help.
So, take the time to find yourself outside of work—spend time with family, follow your nightly routine, update your six priorities, and get a good night’s rest. By doing so, you’ll set yourself up for success and truly reclaim your life.
How to Find Yourself Through Daily Productivity
The success of our lives is shaped by what we accomplish daily. If you're wondering how to find yourself, start by focusing on the small, controllable moments. Whether we like it or not, each day is an opportunity to take action. It’s not about what we do once—it’s about the consistent efforts that shape our future and help us reclaim our lives.
If you truly want to find yourself and make this your best year yet, start now. All you need is a pen, a few pieces of paper, and the discipline to follow through. Reclaim your life one day at a time.
The idea couldn’t be easier, but only the committed will actually try this, and I dare you to be one of them. Good luck!
